Insulate and save!

If you have little or no insulation in your home, up to 40p in every £1 of heat you pay for could be escaping before you feel warm.  Hold this thought.

You can fix this.  Insulation offers an amazingly cost effective solution.  The Energy Saving Trust estimates annual savings of £115 from cavity wall insulation and £150 from installing loft insulation¹.   You can start saving energy the day the insulation is installed, and it will keep saving money for as long as your home is standing.

Big discounts are available to homeowners and private tenants who choose to have cavity wall and loft insulation fitted by reputable installers.  If you are over 70, or receive certain income related benefits, you may be able to get a 100% grant.

Insulation offers an excellent first line of defence against both cold weather and rising fuel bills. The payback time is typically short and the long term financial and environmental benefits are high.

For more information on insulation grants and discounts, contact Cocoon on 0800 8048 777. Lines are open Mon - Fri, 9am - 5pm.

Notes for editors:

  1. Savings are based on a gas heated three bedroom semi-detached house without any loft insulation. Topping up existing loft insulation to 270mm (10.5 inches) usually saves around £45 a year. If your property is larger than average for the number of bedrooms, or access is difficult, you may have to pay more.
  2. Cocoon is a free, independent, comparison service established since 2003. It is being promoted by local authorities across Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Hertfordshire and is now available in Hampshire.
